I have applied for a job as head of holistic services in South Birmingham. It’s one grade up which would be ace and specifically managing other professions as well as a serviceZ to be honest it is a smaller job than I have now and I already manage other professions :-)

Best of luck with the outcome. I hope it goes your way. 👍

Good morning everyone, looks like a nice day, going to be taking the CG out for a run and take some photos as I will have to let her go :classic_sad:

The equipment Andrea had will be collected on Friday and the car will be picked up the Friday of next week.

Good thing I rang motability yesterday as the car is no longer able to be used once someone dies, the 14 day grace period is longer in use

On the bright side watching all the asian YT vids I know how to load up Xena properly when I have to start moving stuff about :thumb:

I am shocked that the rules on motability are so harsh. At a time of bereavement people ought to be given some leeway.

To be fair they did offer to arrange a hire car or arrange taxis for me when needed but just seemed a pointless excercise when they could just have stayed with the grace period.

A rather brutal and insensitive approach. A pencil pusher will have figured out saves them 0.5% 🙄

Anyhow that doesn’t help and your doing a good job of managing this 😊

Not good mate.

Always been the same though.

Father in law died at home (nursed by r lass n her sister). He had the hospital bed set up downstairs in the room.

The morning he passed we rang them to collect etc. They stated something like 6 days. So my mam in law was expected to live with it for all that time.

Thought sod that. Tackle out. Was a bugger to take apart but was in the garage by dinner.

Keep your chin up kidder.

If you ever do need to talk. Give us a shout. Belive it or not, I've been on courses....lol

Not my favourite kind of day today. I am working in one room for 14 hours straight. 3 Zoom meetings, one of which will be over 3 hours long with 16 papers to be presented - mostly by people who don't understand that having presented a paper they then need to repeat the whole damn thing because it's their pet project. When I chair meetings I set an absolute time limit of 2 hours and all papers are taken as read with only updates and clarifications allowed before people can debate the subject matter. So it's pretty frustrating being stuck there whilst people waffle ineffectually.  😖

I started reading that thinking, it’s just a bit of a grey day, it’s not that bad and ended reading it thinking nooooooooo! 😱

My daughter spent a few weeks with us here last year. She’s been working 12-14hr days at home, solitary as she’s single. She came here as her bubble and we cut that down to 10hrs a day by encouraging her to join us on walks. I digress.

I occasionally listened to to her Skype meetings: she runs a large team of (offshore and onshore) credit controllers and credit managers, reporting to the U.K. Financial Director. No meeting more than an hour, updates only, serious issues dealt with individually out of the meeting . Always positive & constructive.

I found it exhausting just listening. The pace was unremittting. Then I recalled my working life... our meetings were rarely so intense, but, being retired, I’d forgotten what a chore they could be.

I’m glad I’m out of it.

Best of luck. 🤔

I am in back to back stuff from 8-5, I often have multiple meetings scheduled at the same time. The meetings account for roughly half of my responsibilities and all of my time.
I had two weeks off recently and I have struggled since because I have recognised that my job is not doable :-(

I struggle to switch off.

Always have done. I'm on my week off/shift break.

Still checking emails and attended an online meeting yesterday.

Working extra tomorrow nightshift.

I feel its worse at the moment because there's nothing else to do.

When I'm at the coast, I still attend meetings online/or previously we would watts app call when one of attendees was away.  But I switched off for the rest of the time.

Managerial roles on shift are a bit of a strange one to be honest. We work 12 hrs shifts 365 days a year, but most of our planning and HR stuff is carried out mon to fri. Thus, we end up working daft hours as a norm.

Last summer when the pubs were open I actually attended a teams meeting whilst having a pint inside my local in Hornsea. Just sort of goes to show that shift breaks in reality don't exist. It was the only time the meeting could be held, I'd come off a 60 hour week. Grace was doing an online lesson in the van and I wanted a pint....lol

Best meeting I've ever attended.

Reason I still like my job. When I'm away I literally live it but that's fine because there's nowt else to do. When I'm home I don't even think about it and rarely have emails or online meetings etc.  This leave I had one for about an hour concerning an event in Nigeria. The rest of the time I can do my own thing regardless, Covid restrictions  excepting of course. One reason they piss me off so much.
