Luckily you could just swim back inside your giant clam right? Kevin already with the kettle on I hope Quote

I had a passport stolen in Singapore in 2001, got a police report and flew home on my seaman's book. Once home I went to the then newly opened Passport Office in Durham. I applied over the counter and got my passport later the same day. Things definitely don't always improve with time! Many moons ago working in Grease my passport was going to expire. So I applied for a new one, then circumstances changed and I had to come home. Getting on the flight was a palava the UK end my parents where there to greet me. They had ID for me. However I walked up to the immigration and said, I believe you might be expecting me? They hardly examined my ID and let me through. My parents where pleased they didn't have to ID me, long bleached sun blond hair a tan they would not of thought it was me A couple of days later my passport arrived in the UK. Type set (made with type writer) issued in UK embassy Athens. Raised eyebrows at immigration on honeymoon in Turkey and afew other immigration desks. 2 Quote

bonio Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Letting you into the country without a passport is pretty lax tbf. Wouldn't happen these days. 1 Quote

As a seaman I can travel on my UK Seaman's Book. It's a legal travel document but it's a bit bizarre as its valid for life or until all pages are full. The only time I did use it for that was in 2001 and the SB was issued in 1977. The photo wasn't too accurate! Nobody batted an eye. 3 Quote

The links will give you an idea of cost etc, and the price will vary a lot. The lipo charger supplied is very basic. You should factor in the cost for a good intelligent lipo charger. Unfortunately power racing has ended at our club and most folk now sail yachts or scale boats. https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/316723/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwqMO0BhA8EiwAFTLgIP8YLxsYoFYn5BcGDz_bkKTnsbXnUDE1ThdQ_RJzHfidAsKfwgHbpBoCvPEQAvD_BwE https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/volantexrc-vector-sr65-brushless-rc-boat Quote

They go fast. You can turn left, you can turn right. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. For real rc fun on the water go for sail. They aren't as fast but the challenge of sailing one well will stretch you for a very long time. Plus the skill needed changes with the weather so it's never the same twice. Yachts can be expensive though. The best class for a beginner is the Dragon Force 65 or 95. The 95 is the better boat but too big to fit into a car fully rigged. The 65 is cheaper and can fit into the back seat of most cars fully rigged. With radio about £300. That's really good value considering a decent IOM or similar starts at over £1000. Just be aware that like motorbikes it's addictive. And means meeting up with strange people of like minded addiction on a regular basis. 1 1 Quote
Gerontious Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 What is the opposite of a rant? Don’t you just hate complicated questions? something to rant about right there! Complicated questions. last Thursday I sent off my passport renewal at the post office and 8 days later, yesterday I get a text from the passport office. It will be delivered today. So 9 days between sending and receiving. I’m borderline impressed. The application told me up to 3 weeks! I might rant about government misinformation!! or I might not. And rant instead about indecision. Maybe. 1 2 1 Quote
bonio Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 That's an antirant. It starts off like a rant, and has all the feel and attitude of a rant, except the actual rant is missing. To be picky, it really should be in a different thread. But I'm not going to have a rant about it. 1 2 Quote

Bonio should post as a rant. even if he’s making a point about the none rant while not ranting about it himself, So I’ll rant about the none rants to an not a rant posts that don’t rant in a ranting thread. . 1 1 Quote

But as the power racing has declined I now mainly use my RG65 yacht ( this is what the Dragon 65 is based on) and as you say it needs much more involvement. 2 Quote

peatear Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Ordered touring screen for tiger in vague hope it fits and if not hoping that I can return it. Was coming by FedEx, no sign of it for 2 days after its due. Third day, get an email delivery attempted. Parcel not delivered. Someone was home, so know that no delivery was attempted. 40 mins later, another email saying it has been delivered... EH? Check later on for proof of delivery, an unknown name signed it. No one known on the street by the name. With no other proof like house number, signature, picture. Nothing. Report the issue of non-delivery to website I bought from who gets hold of a DIFFERENT proof of delivery from FedEx. Supposedly delivered next door, but name doesn't match and they haven't received anything. Back and forth we go. Hope they have GPS to find it. Edited July 15, 2024 by peatear added 2 Quote
bonio Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Oh no. Many happy hours ahead of you emailing / phoning people who haven't any power to resolve the issue. 1 Quote
