Nearly lost my mortgage once due to ineptitude on the part of the solicitor. Took a lot of last minute phone calls to sort out. Edited November 26, 2024 by S-Westerly 1 Quote
Mickly Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 The Solicitor that dealt with my divorce was brilliant. My ex’s side kept sending separate letters for each minute issue ( she’d got legal aid ) purposefully to bleed me as they expected a separate reply to each one at £200 a pop, my solicitor spotted it straight away and told me she would only answer when they started getting snotty, then she’d answer the lot in one go. The CSA had just come into force & I was her first client involved so she was learning as we went which involved a lot of letters ( at £200 a pop ), when we finally finished she pulled my file which was about 18” thick of letters she said she would give me a 80% discount as she was now the practice expert 5 Quote
Steve_M Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Call out fees? Dishwasher needs about an hour’s work on it (probably less as I’ve diagnosed the problem and told them which parts are needed). Call-out fee? £106. Accepting travel time of an hour or so, that’s £106 for two hours work. 2 Quote

Get yourself a dashcam god forbid anything happens there is evidence, also for the two tw#ts you met that day just send the footage to your local plod and then they can send a nice little letter to the owners. 1 Quote

husoi Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) So... Apparently, when several big black flies enter your house without permission it is pointless to call the police or the council telling them you have squatters in your place. They do absolutely nothing about it. Then you get a warning not to call again Edited November 27, 2024 by husoi 1 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 When we got our new washing machine my wife decided to try eco mode. I assume she thought it meant economical but it ran for 5 bloody hours. Never used that mode since and still no idea what the eco means. 1 Quote
bonio Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) Ours will happily run for 3 or 4 hours on a single wash if we give it free rein. We have set all kinds of quick this and quick that buttons before it will turn washing around in under 90 minutes. Edited November 29, 2024 by bonio 1 Quote

First wash was as per timings stated, all good, today tried 45 minute wash as lovely day and drum half full, after 45 minutes it was still washing, after an hour and 5 minutes it had drained and spun and I finally thought this is finished, no the board lit up again and started washing again, after 2 hours it finished, well I still had to spin it, spoke to very unhelpful service assistant who blamed ao.com for not installing right, but it drained lovely, it just automatically went onto another programme rather than stopping, at risk of them saying it's my fault and call out fee could be charged, engineer is coming sometime before 8 tonight, maybe I have electrical powers that by just looking at the machine it magically starts up again, hopefully I'll have nice man not jobsworth, who will help fix it, me I just want a quiet life and clean clothes, didn't think that's too much to ask, turns out it is!! You are probably aware Angela but just incase, If it is faulty and its gone wrong within the first thirty days you can reject the goods and ask for a replacement or a full refund. 1 Quote
Simon Davey Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) I'm pretty sure: Eco mode is washing for longer because it uses less water and less heat. Pretty counter intuitive, as it uses more electricity from washing for longer... Edited November 29, 2024 by Simon Davey 1 Quote

The point of being eco is that it heats less, spins slower and less, uses a bit less water than normal, this consumes alot less electricity and water while using the detergent to its maximum effect. takes longer but for the maximum efficiency that’s what it does.. 1 Quote

However like your dishwasher if not given a good hot setting regularly acquires crude it drains and blocks the drains. Don’t ask how I know. 2 Quote

They're easy, you just keep throwing your dirty washing into them and miraculously they turn themselves on AND, then put they put the clothes in the drier, AND THEN back into your drawers. 2 Quote
Nick the wanderer Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 We have one of those super modern ones, you just throw the washing in a basket and wait a couple of days.. Quote
