1. Riding solo I would say but cheap £20 on eBay. Riding with friends get Scala but consider dual audio streaming as so much nicer...
2. I am aware but when you are wearing them for a 10 hour+ shift changing them regularly, keeping a good seal is a challenge. A smile or conversation is enough to steam glasses up, not ideal when divining over ear ones are a nightmare tie ones easier. Plus the requirement to wear them when driving 2 up is new. Having worked throughout to be suddenly be told NOW you shall, wheres as at the beginning we where told No you shall not...
3. Even if it needs new carbs changed, coils, HT leads, timing pickup, air filter should still be under a grand total. With those replaced it should good for miles. Other than tyres oil etc https://m.facebook.com/greg.elliottgrabowski/posts/pcb.3369639333055034/?photo_id=10163778797385582&mds=%2Fphotos%2Fviewer%2F%3Fphotoset_token%3Dpcb.3369639333055034%26photo%3D10163778797385582%26profileid%3D540553226%26source%3D48%26refid%3D28%26_ft_%3Dqid.6840408751404127228%253Amf_story_key.-6949495008868257032%253Agroup_id.140049276016772%253Atop_level_post_id.3209962052358797%253Acontent_owner_id_new.1199503754%253Aoriginal_content_id.3369639333055034%253Aoriginal_content_owner_id.702645581%253Apage_id.140049276016772%253Asrc.22%253Aphoto_id.10163778797385582%253Astory_location.5%253Aattached_story_attachment_style.group_sell_product_item%253Aview_time.1592656772%253Afilter.h_nor%253Atds_flgs.3%253Apage_insights.%257B%2522140049276016772%2522%253A%257B%2522page_id%2522%253A140049276016772%252C%2522page_id_type%2522%253A%2522group%2522%252C%2522actor_id%2522%253A1199503754%252C%2522dm%2522%253A%257B%2522isShare%2522%253A1%252C%2522originalPostOwnerID%2522%253A3369639333055034%257D%252C%2522psn%2522%253A%2522EntGroupMallPostCreationStory%2522%252C%2522post_context%2522%253A%257B%2522object_fbtype%2522%253A657%252C%2522publish_time%2522%253A1592655986%252C%2522story_name%2522%253A%2522EntGroupMallPostCreationStory%2522%252C%2522story_fbid%2522%253A[3209962052358797]%257D%252C%2522role%2522%253A0%252C%2522sl%2522%253A5%257D%257D%26__tn__%3DEHH-R%26cached_data%3Dfalse%26ftid%3D&mdp=1&mdf=1

Something like that is probably the future of bikes if we have to go electrical. They can get E-bikes (electric cycles) to 80mph+ but without the range. It's now all down to batteries, weight is always a killer for efficiency. So lite weight quick recharge batteries.
5. Cheap not waterproof: https://www.rydestore.com/luggage.html I have had a small tank bag of there's for years and it's still in useable condition. I used the chain splitter, it be they sent me replacement. So no issues. It was also my first time using chain splitter so maybe partially my fault? Motocentric also do some.. not trialled by me. https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-motocentric%20tank%20bag.html
6. About 8 miles for me... 4 miles gentle roads to warm them up some derestricted for then run back. Typically I do the same again just because... If the tyre has lost the glossy sheen its as near as run in as far as I am concerned....
7. Do the following damage coatings on glasses? 1. Anti-fog spray which you spray on your glasses after cleaning 2. Cleaning your glasses with washing up liquid and then leaving them to dry 3. Cleaning your glasses with shaving foam and then leaving them to dry 4. Anti-fog wipes Now meant to wear masks at work all the freaking time. Not been needed since the beginning but now.... Luckily I don't need glasses to drive but I do to read the SatNav...
8. You may find that they cannot fine you if you let tax lapse before the rules changed.
9. Lots of opinions on chains, I favour automatic chain oilers. Choose your tour from £20 to £200. Then I am really good at not cleaning my chain. Take your pick on oils and gunks to spray on, lots of choice or there.
10. Snap... Then nothing until a Windows 3.1 laptop 15 years later...
11. This is the one I got, it’s still working... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Helmet-Headsets-Microphone-Intercom-Waterproof-MP3-FM/193426305144?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Only coments it has its own charging cable, usb one end the other type specific. Speakers and microphone are a little larger compared with my Cardo.
12. Can I just ask a polite question, you did actually put your name forward? Just wondering as you would be such a great choice providing such polite and considered input
13. Surviving that long in London I am sure you will be fine, probably riding more than many in here. If you still have your 125 you can do clutchless changes in that to....
14. Maybe I am bad, pre ride inspections are limited I use my bikes almost daily one or the other. I do keep eye on them, but pre ride checks. Not my thing in the early hours. If one has not been ridden for whilst it will get a bit of a once over...
15. I have always had flip down visor would not be without. Depends on your glasses and the helmet. I am lucky I don't need to wear glasses to ride. Although I can say with my shark I had a problem with my HTC no problem...
16. My suggestion DO NOT BUY until AFTER your CBT. You then have ridden a bike and know what you want, after my CBT I knew: My lid needed drop down sun visor, I liked loose fitting necks on jackets, I would rather have thick gloves than cold hands, I would be riding my bikes more more than I expected...
17. DO NOT start bike from a vehicle that is running, it will knacker your Voltage Regulator Rectifier. My suggestion new battery: https://www.allbatteries.co.uk/motorcycle-battery/yamaha/600/fz6-600-fazer-n-s-5vx/2004-2007-mot124.html?utm_source=GoogleProductSearch&utm_medium=comparator&utm_campaign=GPS&gclid=CjwKCAjwlZf3BRABEiwA8Q0qq1B-oA7CPuDBrK-feU7AzsoOgr6iCUG-FcAoKokdpctPkDf5x48yGBoCY78QAvD_BwE
18. husoi Thanks for the advice on how they work in practice. How hard is it to top up the tyre when they do go down a bit? Regarding phones not wanting to start an old discussion on this, will say though. On a long ride mine sits on handle bars as a SatNav/ traffic/ hazard/ speed awareness app, I can use voice control to change apps, so all legal. Looking at the apps I would not be switching to it routinely. I can set Low and high pressure/ temperature alarms and it will just shout at me when out of limits (I have had my fair share of punctures). Although I do abuse my phone I try to keep the bike clear of clutter. Presently I have an app that on detecting Bluetooth connection various devices starts various apps. EG when connected to my headsets: Music (can then be controlled from headset), Google maps (directions/ traffic), Tomtom Amigo (speed awareness ), Cardo connect as appropriate. I can then use voice commands to switch between apps etc. Another app wont make much difference. Most of the time I just turn headset on set volume and ride, getting shouted at occasionally in terms of speed awareness, there would be a confidence in getting shouted at for low tyre pressure as well. I had been considering these external ones: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MXFG28H/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AHCWXBCPZU6JP&psc=1 Internal ones I had not looked at: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/402278832330?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=402278832330&targetid=909953938039&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9045694&poi=&campaignid=10199634949&mkgroupid=101938390717&rlsatarget=pla-909953938039&abcId=1145987&merchantid=101461561&gclid=CjwKCAjwlZf3BRABEiwA8Q0qq9_JlSNTUpML5WRrbi0i7bJ2KgD9y5vlmh3njEr6w-MGbxzbGsbfMhoCcoQQAvD_BwE Not to dissimilar in price with the advantages given, in your note, I will have to cost up the price of changing the valves on tyres. People on here might know if that can be a DIY job? I can take all my wheels off easy enough and can transport to a garage for compressed air. Although that all sounds like allot of effort if it is easy to remove externals to change tyre pressures. Noting your point TimR regarding balancing and stresses. For Caravan I would just put a car one on wheels (twin axle) and see if it has the range to reach the car. PS watching your trailer thread with interest for a trailer for a dog and and outboard.
19. Following from husoi post where I got introduced to TPMS - having not realised they could be so affordable. Looking to get for my bikes to start with as I am notorious for not checking tyre pressures. Present thoughts are Bluetooth, to phone app for bikes buying a set for 1 car and using on the bike. Would also look at similar but independent for the cars and maybe caravan. All affordable advice appreciated.
20. I used these guys for rear brake caliper. When the front where binding as well and money tight. I rebuilt them myself. My advise to self for next time, is not difficult to it yourself
21. I recently bled my brakes having rebuilt calipers. Bolted it back together put peice of clear hose hose on caliper bleed poorer oil in chamber. Pumped brake till oil came out of caliper, I put hose vertical so bubbles could rise up. Once oil was going up and down with no bubbles in hose nipped up bleed. Did same for other caliper. Brake felt firm but repeated the above, to be sure. Checked all unions for leaks. Ride gently for first whilst till confident. Have checked oil and connections regularly and all seems good. TimR 's procedure above is probably more correct but it was simple and worked for me..
22. Cheaper options also available, automatic chain lubrication. None of them are fit and forget but they do improve life of chain. Chain maintenance is something that people can be strongly opinionated about. Make sure you lube it and clean it occasionally with time you will find your own way. ACF50 anti corrosion spray is almost universally worshipped on here. As always there are other options. TPRS I knew they existed but I had not paid much attention. Something I might invest in simply because I am not very good at checking tyre pressures.

Use of WD40

Reasons why I like automatic chain oilers and don't like Optimates. Tell misses bike needs run, to charge battery and oil the chain. Go out for an hour come back later that day. Need to ride more? Buy second bike you can do the same twice in one day if needed.
24. I saw something about misses and comfort. You can pick up good condition triumph trophy for that panniers the lot. My misses find it comfortable..
25. Nice boat... Always been one for sail me... Sadly of the water at the moment till I can find the fault with old transmitter or get new longish range new one. She's so much more fun to sail on bigger bits of water...
