    cyclists...

I am so jealous. Yesterday we walked 5 miles to sea wall, there is lake the dog can swim in. Well officially he cannot that's another story, he does. Which is important after he had been wading/ running in thick mud for past 20 minutes.. He had just started at this point. I launch ball into lake he fetches it the spends 20 minutes playing with it in his leg length water... Out of our reach, teasing us. Until lock down we had been trying to train this out of him. Now it's any way we can get him to burn energy... Sorry back on subject cyclists, that's my next plan try and run the energy out of him.. Problem is he will soon learn me on bike at 35-40 kg he will win at tug of war How do i get bike and dog to where I can have him of lead. That comes back to bike trailer...

Not looking to start an argument, having done some reading in this one. Dogs can carry the virus, on there coat but it lasts a short period. Leads and collars have an increased risk The danger from being brushed by a dog are very minimal. Don't be too rude about those that still walk off lead. Certainly it we had to exercise our 2 year old on the lead only, he would need tranquillisers. Over the last few weeks we have brought his exercise down to 1.5 hours a day off lead from 2 hours plus. He is already becoming problematic at home chewing more barking etc were waiting on complaints from neighbours. If he don't get better is doggy calms, then tranquillisers... If that fails.....
  3. Maybe I was not clear they where taking whole new calipers not just servicing. Just remove old caliper and replace with new caliper complete... A price of less than £100 was mentioned. Compared with well over £100 for parts to rebuild... Presently the pad securing pins are seized and rounded the pistons are rusted the pins the caliper "floats" on the look not like an ornate chair leg... About the only good but is the caliper body maybe....
  4. Stupidest route/ journey, oh my that list is long... Bradford - Kirby Lonsdale in the snow my passenger suggested we stop several times, we got there. 30 miles for cup of tea in Preston in snow, usual travel warnings. Glossop - North York Alerston moors of a night b roads all the way... 2 years running I left the road in brow of a hill... Hogmanay 1996? Recommendations not to travel /snow cold, I drive from near Liverpool to Glasgow, to end up in Edinburgh. In car with no working heater. My mates diesel turned to jelly, skiing Aviemore. I wrote in dirt on side of car gone to pub and arrow.. later that night he found me drinking in Glasgow city center. Talking to an Aussie girl that I next met in London, and failed to meet in Sidney, due to drinking to much in Hobart. On Honeymoon in Turkey, we came up an interesting road to find ourselves in the wrong side of barriers saying danger road closed. It was pretty dodgy. Various dodgy roads in Trinidad and Tobago one involving brake pads falling out. Trying to cross the Levkas hills on a rental scooter? It's allot harder to be stupid in the South of England... Mainly being stupid gets you stuck in traffic I did get my misses to tow a caravan through Manchester, in rush hour when she had never towed before... We where doing Glasgow-New Forest in one hit... Green laning in snow, it was not that exciting. The last big dump of snow when they shut the A35 I took my then MGTF up to it then along the M27 to get to work. When most of the cars where still stuck on it. On the bike: Using this as short cut in Wales: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VwEMNEAXeETQssbL7 Scores high Plus some wet windy 2 up trips to Devon/ Cornwall. Heading up the A34 to Bicester with snow falling for job interview? I was routinely clear visor of snow.. I like going over world's end when I get chance then the old road up the Pondarosa cafe. Being passenger in Egypt is not a good experience, I never tried driving the... I might edit to add more later...

Something New Forest dogs have to learn at an early age is animals are not playthings... You really don't want to see the local social media reaction if a dog worries an animal, a car hits an animal, any one is caught speeding on forest roads.

A local village is getting upset round here... Then I can understand, normally round here most drive a mile or 2 and walk there dogs in the New Forest. The car parks are now all closed, there are now plenty of people packed into local lanes and footpaths. Frequently during a walk you are greeted by sweaty faced cyclist dinging there bell at last moment and passing inches away. No excuse me or thank you, no time for that. Makes you wonder what some people are thinking... It also makes you very cautious about walking your dog... Particularly when he is used to running in wild open spaces surrounded by people who like dogs... Edit to add:. Those kids sitting on Pennington common: Seems the locals are ready with pitch forks for everyone....
  7. My Triumph trophy rear brake caliper is poorly. Parts to rebuild are upwards of £120 Seals pins and what not soon mounts up. Plus the time to rebuild and the fact that even when tl rebuilt they are not great I heard mention of a bolt on replacement that is a direct replacement. Sadly the group that talks about these no longer have a source for them. Anyone know how I would go about sourcing this myself...
  8. Child's play, back when she was not my X wife. My daughter's mum was surprised when I offered to push the pram to get baby to sleep... When she came to visit me working on the boat. Till she realised I was using pram wheels to dee rust some chain by repeatedly pushing her over it... It was surprisingly efficient.
  9. Thoughts for you.. Wind on smaller lighter bike is more challenging regardless of fairing.. A naked bike is cold in anything less than Clement weather, Sports bikes are great fun but can be tiring in long day, A fully faired tourer or adventure bike is heavy to push solo, 2 bikes to consider from me cheap option TDM900 good MPG not that fast but fun on Twisties good sitting position for long days, some weather protection. Expensive option Tracer 900 as above but faster and lower MPG. Plenty others out there, there is no wrong choice... Some bikers change bikes like women change shoes...

    Shed base

Condensation constant problem on yachts/ boats. It's either ventilation, and of that's not working more ventilation. Or heater & dehumidifier combination and seal boat up, as some one said you end up getting and dehumidifying the UK..
  12. Personally owning a bike with an alarm not certain I would do again.. that's just personal choice. Other choice would be to run everything through a relay. One wire to inhibition controlled circuit the test can then get power direct from battery...
  13. Compare the market make an account... Best I have found plus it remembers you details for next year... Oh and rescue my car for you and partner.. is cheap if you don't break down very often. I have a triumph so am aware this...
  14. Riding with friends who lost her sponge of the Mike it became constant wind noise. I borrowed a sponge from a cafe fettled it with a knife. That worked well, I have also dabbled with buying fur lined gloves from a charity shop and wrapping mic in that also with surprising results...
  15. Yes and no, they will chase 3rd party harder. £600 pound excess bike worth £500 Damage to 3rd party 3k liability £3500 total loss of £2900 100 your fault loss to insurer pays £2900 50/50 settlement insurer pays £1750 Not your fault 3rd party pays all, and your excess, but you ride motorcycles so that never happens... It's not that clear cut but unless massive difference in premium it's worthy of consideration.
  16. This true of any headset brand... The position of the speakers is critical 3mm or 1/8" can make big difference. Try turning your telly up then playing music on your headset, move speaker's on helmet until your telly is least audible. It's a PITA helmet on helmet off but makes big difference. Afew mm can make big difference with microphone position, although my experience of calls on cheap coms is over 50mph they struggle. Even good ones deteriorate over this speed.
  17. This winter I started riding the bike to work, unless it was absolutely pissing it down its only 1.5 miles. Since this post had been quite Last 3 days I have had people pull out in front of me on the way home... It seems those that are out on the roads at this time are the knobheads...

  19. 220 +/-10 per tank on TDM, triumph trophy anywhere between 140 and 240 depending on how gentle I have been. Although the other hand to play is how much fuel have you fitted in your tank? The TDM has 20 ltr tank and I have fitted in 18 ltrs...
  20. I used to enjoy flashing on roofs That one cam from my mum, who was 74 and a as far as I was aware never a roofer, neither was my farther... Thank you for solving the mystery but leaves me wondering how the hell
  21. Sorry I forgot to list and the plastic one in with the tent... And the copper / plastic headed one. I don't think I have a rubber one, although when I have tidied my tools up and checked it might become a necessity.. Ps I really don't know what the one on the left is for... Maybe working leather or cloth or saddles, for horses... Any guesses...
  22. This thread got me counting, how many socket sets do I have? Boat 1/4" drive Caravan 1/2" drive Car 3/4" drive Garage full sets of Imperial and metric, I think it's 2 maybe 3 various drive sizes including torx sockets. Now hammers and there maybe I am over the top. Last count 4 standard claw hammers, 3 smaller claw hammers 1 larger claw hammer 4 ball hammers various sizes, 3 chipping hammers, 2 soldering hammers, 1 sledge hammer 2 lump hammers Should I include 3 standard axes and a pick axe.. As my misses says we are prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse..
  23. Update on my GIDIBI oilier... After fitting: First Night it ditched all the oil out of the System , luckily I had sort of preempted this and had tub underneath so no harm done. I refilled it and tightened the top a little more, plus this time the seal had oil on so probably sealing a bit better. Next night it did not ditch oil. Longest ride it had was 1/2 an hour ride to work and it dripped a little after, but chain was oiled, I am in lucky or unlucky situation that while this is going on I will be going to work. Great commuting by bike you might we will get a great review. Its also only It's 1.5 miles to work. So how is it fairing, actually I think it will work out OK. I have learned turn 1/4 turn and turn back for short journeys, when you see no evidence of oil in day or so turn back a little less. This worked well till this week when it stopped dripping became stiff to turn and leaked a little at handle bars. my mistake I managed to put kink in hose Having adjusted the routing and used cable ties I will see how it goes. How do I feel about it at the moment? Well I am found myself looking for mounting points on the Trophy to get one on that so I would recommend with caution. Its not a plug in and forget system, you need to learn how it works and set it up. Presently I am using Scot Oiler oil as I have some left will switch to engine oil once I have used it up well actually shortly I will mix some engine oil in with it. In the meantime I have nicely oiled chain. If I bought it again I would resist the urge to turn the knobs until it had oil in, I don't think me playing with it before fitting did the seals any favours. If you want plug and play I would recommend X system Scot oilier with dual nozzles. If anyone wants pictures of my set up I will gladly post.
  24. I feel for you. I made it off just before everything shut down. My C/E was due off in mid April and he's been told he'll be lucky if he's off in May. Not a happy bunny at all. That feeling 6 weeks turns to 12+ your not relived until you see your relief and a gangway under there feet...
