linuxrob Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Checked and prept the Bandit, but not washed it before a run down to Strawberry fields cafe for a chat with some of the lads. Nice mild day. Reminisced about my RE5 with a fellow owner and chat to fellow Bandit owner. Back home via Malton and Helmsley, a good 140 mile ride. New EBC organic front and rear pads to fit after it's summer good brake caliper clean next. Quote

Harry Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Something reassuring about doing an oil filter and oil change ... Quote
Tiggie Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I'm the other way! I am always tense when riding/driving after doing an oil change as I worry I haven't tightened filter or drain plug enough Quote
KiwiBob Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Cleaned, lubed and adjusted the chain. Changed the fork oil. .. Just need to replace brake pads then its of for an MoT. Brake pads fitted this morning, taken for MoT this afternoon .. Passed! Quote
Mickly Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Started the Trophy Cafe Racer project up, sounded sweet - idle was a bit quick but rear wheel was spinning ( on centre stand ) so it had started in gear without holding in the clutch! Then hit the kill switch & it continued running, turned off the ignition & it continued running - had to pull the plug caps to stop it.As it’s not a two stroke running away with it’s self it seems I’ve got an electrical gremlin... bugger !! Tiggie Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Sounds like its dieselling. Is it a carbed bike? Quote
Mickly Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Testing proves that there’s a live feed from the battery to the igniter & coils.Wasn’t aware that pre-ignition or dieselise could happen on a 4 stroke bike. Quote
Thomo206 Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Nice ride out this evening until a bell end in a car decided that he would go head to head with me. Luckily I seen in coming and stopped in time. How to wreck a nice evening. A70 Carnwath to Edinburgh. Quote
dynax Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Going to get a different mount for the sat nav ( didn't kill it afterall ) i think the vibrations from the long flexible arm were too much for it, then later will have a look at the brakes on the CG as the back wheel locks up when rolling it Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 The glamour of motorbike ownership. Sat in the boiling heat next to a sewerage plant that's honking in the heat. But this place was able to fit me in today when I called yesterday. Figured my bike has a stronger story with 12 months MOT vs 1.5 months Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Update, passed with no advisories Quote
