rennie Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 It was snowing briefly in Smethwick last night! 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Barnard Castle seems to be set for a shed load of snow. Darn sarth we are only supposed to be in for a couple of cm. Doesn't really encourage me to venture out on the bike tomorrow though. Quote
manxie49 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Wind and sleet here, lost a ridge tile about an hour ago, I'm good with heights but there's no way I'm getting up on the roof in this! .... It's beyond what I class as sporty. 2 Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Why we have followed the American habit of giving bad weather a name is beyond me Then we follow them with Black Friday sales on a day that has no significance in our calendar. Next thing we'll go and elect some buffoon to run the country. 6 Quote
Bender Posted November 26, 2021 Author Posted November 26, 2021 Bleaching snow now, still very wet so no problems with it laying so far. It's playing havoc with the fire though it's not drawing at all..... Quote

Next thing we'll go and elect some buffoon to run the country. Strong storms have been given names globally for years, its not a uniquely American thing. When there's several different storms sharing an ocean it makes it easier for us to keep track on which one is of particular interest. Couldn't agree more with so-called Black Friday - complete waste of time. As to electing a buffoon we didn't elect Corbyn. 2 Quote
Bender Posted November 26, 2021 Author Posted November 26, 2021 Naming storms is fine, black friday is a bad joke, which said less than 10% of the stuff they checked was remotely worthy of being cheaper than it was originally. 3 Quote
Bianco2564 Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 (edited) Few years back, Robinson's foundry were having 20% off everything on Black Friday, I'll have one of them RGV cranks thanks, should have been £700, got it for £560. Edited November 26, 2021 by Bianco2564 1 Quote
Gerontious Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 I don't care. I'm well stocked up on weetabix. Quote

I don't go mad as you say a lot of the prices ain't that good but there are the odd bargain out there Quote
Bender Posted November 26, 2021 Author Posted November 26, 2021 It don't need to be called black friday, Xmas sale would do 1 Quote
S-Westerly Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 TBH I'm surprised we're allowed to call it Black Friday at all. Surely it must upset someone's safe place? Quote

Bender Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Half way to glasgee, lots of trees down on west coast too.... Quote
Steve_M Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 It’s quite breezy up here. A few trees down around the roads according to DPD driver who delivered to us this morning. One small tree down across the burn in the garden - I’ll deal with that some point, no hurry. I had to clear quite a lot of brash off the drive as well as a smallish branch off the sequoia. Not as much damage as I anticipated. My daughter’s driving home to the Midlands later, here’s hoping the wind drops in the next couple of hours… Quote
Bender Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Fair bit of devastation on the ne coast, mate has had roof tiles on his 3 day old car. 1 Quote

We have a large tree down, luckily away from the drive, not across it. Still, lots of firewood for a couple of years’ time. 1 Quote
