New brake and clutch levers fitted :D

20221228_105314.jpg

Bought some adjustable levers for the 600. brake lever is spot on, but can't use the clutch lever. It sits further away from the grip than the original, and there is no switch activator. Got them from Motea

I had a denali soundbomb mini arrive the other day. Fitted it this morning the bolt to release the old fixing was a right twat to come off other than that an easy fit and you don't even have to worry about the polarity of the wires. A good purchase I think for around £25 lower tone not necessarily much louder way more noticeable.

Just a mundane task today.  New battery arrived for the VFR yesterday, so stuck it on slow charge overnight, fitted it this morning and fired her up.

Stuck the old one on the charger.  12.7v, 90% charge.  The slow charge took about 3 minutes to drop from 2A to zero.  So it had volts, but not cranking capacity as suspected.

First ride with the new lever.

It's either the placebo effect or my front brakes are definitely working sharper

Started up the R1 and SS.

Gave the Silverwing a once over ready for the return to work.

Rear brake was sticking a bit, so stripped that and found the pads were getting low.

Checked the front pads and found the same , fired up ebay and got some on order.

I'm a bit pissed off actually. Noticed today that the crash protector i installed on the crash bar have dented the billet aluminium cover on the right side fo the bike. I feel like an idot for buying the aluminium covers anyway, now i feel like an even bigger fool for installing the crash protectors.

I just absolutely suck at keeping a bike pristine.

That's the sort of shit I would do in the grand scheme of things could be a lot worse but annoying all the same

Feeling your pain mate.

With the GS, I decided in the end that it would be a bike that wore its wounds with a bit of pride. It would a proper bike that had seen active service.

Reluctantly have had to come to the same decision about the MV.

Today I rode my up and down the motorway to try out my new helmet, which turns out to be the quietest I have owned so far. The Airoh Commander.

Took it out and bagged 4 tags. It was pleasantly mild and roads devoid of other traffic.

Had an illegal tag.

Finally got around to respraying an annoying scratch on the Bandit fairing. I forgot to take a "Before" photo but I'm very happy with the colour match and finish and I (mostly) managed to lose the masking edges by following the lines of the panel. It's not perfect but it's a lot better than it was.

How do you rate it quality wise? Looking for a an ADV helmet and those look pretty cool.

Took new Tigger out for a little bimble to take a few more running in miles off and it was pleasant but blustery to say the least.

Really happy with the rear hugger and the front fenda extenda.

So much so the panniers are on for a trip to MK tomorrow for some sales shopping hopefully 😅

Just spent a few hours in the garage with my GSX600F.

I ran the engine since I hadn't used it for a few weeks.

Didn't sound good, used my infra red thermometer on the exhaust, No2 pipe 150degc, all the others 300degc.

Took tank off, plug caps off, No2 dirty, rusty and wet (water).

Spark plug hole full of water.

Cleaned it all out and noticed there is a small drain hole going forward. Squitred carb cleaner odwn there and it didn't drain.

Eventually cleared it with a length of wire.

Tomorrow put it all back together and test ride.

Went in the garage to tinker

Rad guards fitted and the associated plastics put back on

Wife came in with a brew and called me a w**ker!!

Might have had something to do with this 😂😂

Lovely and warm with the log burner on 😂😂

Maybe it had nothing to do with anything other than you 😂

It is certainly well made. The visor is very thick and when I took the lining out, it was a struggle to get it back in. But, somehow, it is also the lightest helemt I have owned.

That's always a factor for me now being light as I get neck pain frequently on long trips my scorpion is the same and no issues 👍

Chain tension on the V-Strom .... nothing simpler ... ?

Don't have a 24mm socket ... every size known to man but 24 mm ... off to Tool Station.

Get home, realise the socket is 1/2 drive all my kit is 3/8 ... off to Tool Station.

New ratchet handle, new socket, axle loosened off, chain tension set 👍

Tighten up slack in axle, get new torque wrench out of box, it's 3/8 drive i cant find a 1/2 - 3/8 adaptor anywhere .... off to f**king Tool Station.

I'm a professional Engineer, one that started on the tools ... this was the worst planned, simple job, i've started in years ......

But all is now well and weekend trips to the Classic Bike show at Newark and a visit to the Sand Racing at Mablethorpe beckon.
