We have flooding but generally speaking we get off very lightly and we know it 😁

Often get huge storms smacking into the west but by time it gets through the lakes and Cumbria it fizzles out.

I was only saying to the wife earlier that I haven't seen rain for ages and the soil in the garden is dry as hell :?

I should have mentioned that I lived in Norfolk for 30years, only recently moved North. I appear to have moved to an oasis of lower rainfall (is that a thing? A drier oasis?)

It’s been dry here for a while. Making up for it at the moment, mind.

Weather is totally messed up and has been for years. One years sample is absolutely worthless.

Probably, but over this neck of the woods its fairly consistent for the 50odd yrs I can remember.

Our weather is worse when it comes down and off the north Sea which luckily dosen't happen often.

The rainfall round here is why I need two bikes. Most of the time the roads are either covered in mud (summer and autumn), or mud plus salt (winter and spring). I need a trusty hack for 90% of the time.

Yesterday was a rare exception. Lots of salt on the roads but it was dry. So I took the Bobber and hoped it wouldn't rain. I got away with it, though it was on the chilly side.

As a sample it does appear to illustrate the principle that I was taught by Dicky Dash (my geography teacher) at school. Warm, damp air blown in from the west rises over high ground, chills and precipitates on the hills. It also explains why we needed waterproofs more often when walking the Lakeland fells than around Norfolk over the last 25 yrs.

Same here, the whole reason I bought the silverwing.

I've done 3000 miles on it since the MOT last September , compare that to probably a couple of hundred on the R1in that time which I also haven't ridden since November .

over the years the seasons seem to be changing, a lot of years ago we had cold snowy winters and hot summers now we just have crap all the way through 🙄

Don’t tour... 🤔

I'll ride in any weather though I prefer it not to be wet. I live in the west and tbh could do with a bit more rain for the garden.

Heading north on Monday- if the weather is reasonable I'll go the scenic route;  if its crap hammer up the motorway (the length of time of being miserable is less).

When I cycled or rode to work I would happily do it in the rain (and other much more foul weather)

Now I currently don't have to commute there's definitely been a mindset shift of 'can't be bothered with that'. Definitely becoming more fair weather all round.

As it's my only transport ( except for public ), I don't have much choice if I have to go out during bad weather, although I will change plans if necessary to avoid really bad conditions :thumb:
