Favourite chippy is in my home town Lymm, and last I was there I paid £6.50 for a fish and regular chips (big helpings of chips). A can of Lilt zero on top takes it to £7.20.

And Lymm is not the little quiet village, with a pokey Somerfields and family owned butchers/florists anymore. It has suffered the influx of high end bars, and restaurants, but the price hasn't rocketed. It remains stubbornly there, old signage and all.

You know a cow or a sheep are far easier to catch?

But cow and chips doesn't really have that ring.

Of course they have.

Then you add a fried egg on top of the steak :thumb:

Yes but that's steak and chips not cow or even worse sheep and chips. Anyway I've caught a few cod in my time but never a cow or sheep.🖕

Can't believe the variation in prices across the country!

This is from just outside Southend - the quaint little seaside village 😲

Prices have just gone up at my local chippy.  Good chip shop but like everything else, prices going up almost on a weekly basis.

I went* to the Lazy Hill fish bar on the Walsall Wood Rd in Aldridge, West Midlands, to buy our lunch today. Haddock was £5.20.

* I hasten to add that I didn’t travel all the way from Cumbria just to buy lunch there.

Yes still going,  another nice chippy that one,  Terrace is good as well, both are on par,  both serve good food.  Just expensive, but what isn’t now 😕

Has to be peppercorn sauce on my steak 'n' chips, although I do like a nice surf 'n' turf occasionally :thumb:

Apparently a local fish and chip van has opened up in a local pub beer garden.

Fish and Chips £16.95 with “proper” mushy peas or curry sauce.

It was the cost of the Extras:

One observation to find decent fish and chips on a budget, look for a Chippy on the edge of a large council estate.

The one in a row of shops where you double check your cars locked and the kids outside are smoking, drinking some kind of alcohol whilst talking about there next high.

Never mind fish, Just been to Dominos and they want twenty four shekels for a Pizza 😱

I am guessing you didn’t have there junk mail handy that makes it half price if you spend twice as much. Or book through the app there is normally deals to be had.
