onesea Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 Things containing then should be clearly labelled. I don't think I am the only one, they make me feel sick. If I accidently have to much of them I loose my appetite for afew days and am generally nauseated. I have similar with UHT. Milk, I can drink it in tea and coffee however drink a glass or have bowl b of cereal I will probably be vomiting. This I can manage becarefull of cream when eating out. As a kid I had several Mondays off school, parents would ask if this UHT? the vomiting the next day would say a different story. Artificial sweeteners again I can deal with a small amount. The problem is they are now everywhere. Try going to a shop/ bar and avoiding then in soft drinks or mixers, they sneak in the most unlikely places. As someone with a sweet tooth, there is nothing like going out for the day/ night to find that something you have eaten or drank is the new improved sugar free version. You no longer want to eat or drink anything, you just want to rest up till you no longer feel sick... Quote
Tiggie Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 A friend of mines favourite drink is irn bru. She can no longer tolerate it after the sugar tax happened as it's now half sugar half aspartame. When it first began she stocked up over 300 cans of the original stuff!! It's all long gone now and only time she can have it is when on holiday abroad 1 Quote
Gerontious Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 No effect on me. I don’t use sweetners or sugar at home but opt for sugar free drinks at every opportunity. Quote
dynax Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 Disgusting stuff, I can always tell when something has sweetners in it Quote
MikeHorton Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 I'm with you on the UHT I have it in tea and coffee. On holiday in Malta one year I was unwell for about 4 days until we made the link with the UHT on breakfast cereal it was in a jug so didn't know. Was fine after not using that in the morning. Apparently the process of making UHT can make it harder for the body to process the proteins. I'm not sure about sweeteners but I do know some sugar free sweets can have a laxative effect! Quote

I buy sugar free drinks every time. I don’t buy sweeteners for use at home. Either the sprinkle on faux sugar type. Or the tiny white tab type. Nor do I buy sugar. Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 A lot of stuff sold sugar free has the artificial stuff in it which I find utterly vile and funnily enough excessively sweet. Fortunately I can tolerate UHT milk as otherwise I'd be milkless for months on end although I only have it in tea or porridge. Quote

Do you not keep a couple of cows and goats on the upper gun deck these days? 1 Quote

Yeah if its sweet and sugar free it most likely contains artificial sweetners. Quote
Tiggie Posted April 25, 2022 Posted April 25, 2022 This thread has made me realise how much I miss original Lucozade Tastes like crap now I wish they had done what coca cola did and just highered the price to cover the sugar tax while keeping the ingredients the same. I'd much rather pay the extra than have it full of sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame or some other crap I can't pronounce. 2 Quote
Blackholesun Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Same I can't drink any of that Pepsi Max and all that gross Quote
Fozzie Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Unpopular opinion, Coke Zero and Irn-Bru Xtra tastes better than the full sugar versions... Orange lucozade however was the one for me. Used to get a sugar high off that like nothing else! Quote
