From last year they stopped the selling of wet wood. You can only buy Kiln dried or seasoned logs now.

Wet wood being anything with over 20% moisture I think.

So what fuel do they use to fire the kilns?

Isn't that something to do with the smoke from damp wood being a very bad thing?

Yup green wood ie fresh cut does not burn great and smokes till you get it roaring , ours ain't kiln dried but the moisture content is well below the 20%

Greetings from the land of the unemployed. as of today I am out of work. until Monday!!

No more Dementia. beginning the induction process on Monday for a return to what I know best, Leaning difficulties and mental health. So, think about people with downs syndrome, people who have been released from mental hospitals after an acute deterioration in their mental health. And people with low capacity, unable to look after themselves and are wide open to abuse and/or self neglect.

Marvellous.

A rare treat for me coming up. a weekend off.

That's the kind of job done by unsung heroes.

3 cubic metres ?

I've not checked my log supplier yet, I guess I'm in for a shock.

2 tonne which apparently is approx 3.5 metres worth.

I don't think there is anything at all at the moment that hasn't soared in price :crybaby:

Just had a quick Google and most places seem to be north of £300 now for a 3 cubic metre bag

3 cubic metres for £350 still isn't that bad... that used to last us a whole winter in our last house, with a fire every night. Might need to think about installing a wood stove. Probably too late for this winter, but chances are I'll still be around for the one after, so sensible to plan ahead for it.

Good stove shop in Attleborough. Woman who runs it is very helpful and usually has some food cooking when you go in, steak ir roast chicken

I can thoroughly recommend the Yondermann Cafe just near Buxton.

Not cheap but seriously good quality ingredients. Very tasty.

I'm having a large meal this evening so I ordered their small breakfast. Larger versions have four of everything!
