It’s taken three months but the study / bedroom 4 is starting to take shape after this week’s efforts to decorate, fit skirting and put up shelves. The last two not straight forward as the walls and ceiling are decidedly wonky. It should be completed by the end of next week.

Nice job :thumb:

I know the pain, all my walls, ceilings, floors, doorways etc are wonky.  Makes doing even simple things like wallpapering a pain

Another thing I've noticed with some builds that I cant explain is why they put the light fittings approx 2 feet from the window rather than central to the room. I've moved the ones in my kitchen and bathroom. Living room one is ok as are the bedrooms.  Still got one in utility room to shift at some point as well. Anyone know why they did it that way? looks stupid and is a pain in the arse to redo as theres so much work involved for what it is.

Ours too. I've been told they're for better privacy; when the light's on, it outshines any light bouncing off you, and so you become harder to see from outside the house.

There's these amazing inventions called curtains or even blinds. They you can have your lights wherever you like so they look sensible.

It's to stop silhouettes being projected onto blinds and curtains :thumb:

All our bedroom ones are like this

I have been told its so shadows are cast in to the room and also is you have a dresser its normally near the window!

I have moved our bedroom one to the centre

Edit: idiot here didn't read the other replies

Wife wants me to put a fitting similar to this above the table in dining room. And no I'm not allowed to move the table underneath where current light is 😂

Just such a pain. Will have to move all furniture in bedroom above. Take up laminate floor, take up floorboards. Then sort the actual electrics.

Then the ceiling in dining room has wood chip paper with years of different paint on it. So will either have to remove it all or try and somehow match it when filling old hole.

Too much bloody work which is why I haven't done it yet 🙄

Very wise. They are nothing but trouble. We inherited them in our last house in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Caught a glimpse of Mighty Trains while channel hopping this episode was on the Maharajas' Express, not sure where it was somewhere in India but there is a Temple for Rats, a huge building with large bowls full of milk and thousands upon thousands of Rats running around freely, and it gets thousands of daily visitors getting really up close and personal with them, everyday is a school day :thumb:
