In future when someone asks what did you do during the great lockdown of 2020.

What will you reply?

For me it will be I watched every James Bond movie from beginning to end...

When I could pry the remote out of the missus hand I watched all of the original star trek, space 1999 & red dwarf. Joined a bunch of biking FB groups & gave up whisky.

Carried on as though nothing had happened. Went to work as normal. Though obviously work itself has been far from normal, in fact it's been extremely difficult. But, I've only been attacked twice which is possibly a record in this place. And there was no blood or bruising which is obviously a plus. I'm doing a wake night. (10-7) and have missed a fun day. The TV.. A 60" is just a tad poorly after having an empty mug thrown at it. Mugs and LCD screens don't really get in all that well.

Did I say I love this job? I love this job. Never a dull moment.

By the way. I think the title of this thread will turn out to be just a tad wrong. I reckon it will be the Pandemic of the 2020s

Where to start...

Fortunately I can work from home. Reduced my commuting time from 1hr to 20 seconds :)

Sprayed my bike,

Made a leather tank cover,

Painted the stairs walls

Making new steps and risers in proper ash wood

Making a pull behind trailer

MOT'ed the bike back in March

Sprayed weedkiller on the front garden and part of the back one

tied up the garage several times

made a table saw with a tile cutter

Destroyed a Lidl rotary tool and had to get a new one

fitted a set of LED's on the bike (rear and indicators)

At the end, the important bit is to keep your mind super busy so you don't have time to be bored ;)

I could of added that as well but that would make me sound like I do work, an image I am not keen to project.

  • Was sent to work from home by my employer before it became cool to do so
  • Didn't go to the supermarket in months
  • Already reasonably fit and healthy, but started a new exercise routine for my own mental health and to give me some structure from the boredom, and became leaner and fitter than before lockdown
  • Even one of the cats who can't stand me seemed to grow affectionate towards me and tolerate my presence

Nothing really changed for me except for going shopping in the afternoon instead of the morning

I uploaded some files to the internet actually.

I said I'd never do it again but the endless political rants and conspiracy theories on Social Media pushed me over the edge!

Once I'd recovered from the virus ( still not tested ) I returned to work as a Civil Servant .

Had the worst bloody leave in my life. Growled and grumped throughout. Worked on decorating and gardening.

Decided that all governments are basically charlatans and shouldn't be trusted to run a whelk stall.

Swore never to knowingly buy something made in China ever again which is proving to be surprisingly difficult.

Hated every single minute of the lockdown and whenever I could LEGITIMATELY break it did so. Was sorely tempted to break it when I didn't have a reason but didn't although probably stretched the limits of what was legitimate although not as much as one Dominic Cummings.

Didn't know my wife had a sister. You'd not believe the junk we carry around with us most of which is now in the loft. That said now and again she has a brilliant idea and the aforesaid junk gets dragged out and made use of. But in the meantime .........

Truly in awe of how productive some of you are...

I've been working as normal. Done a bit of walking, a bit of cycling. Too busy for much else.

Kept working (part time job in social care)

Took on a rescue cat (who urinated in the wardrobe this morning, bast*rd)

Increased the amount of gardening I do, as an alternative to other exercise (my wife makes me weed her allotment)

Had a holiday abroad (Amsterdam, just as everything was starting to close down, looking back it was daft to go, but we got away with it)

You know by know you shouldn't give this lot the opportunity to use your words in a smutty manner

Convenient excuse. I’ll have to get a cat.

Drank a lot and worked on my tan.

Ii also bought a new bike, out of boredom, having never seen that model in real life at all. Quite relevant to this forum I guess.
