FatinaG Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Hey guys! I just wanted to put you all onto an up and coming product that I found and actually think is an excellent idea. It's a helmet strap which will allow you to carry around your helmet hands free. I always hate carrying it around shops, and their not exactly the easiest thing to carry. It's a British company and the quality looks really good. I'll leave the link to where you can support them if you would like to, happy riding https://sling-wax-cotton-helmet-carry.kckb.st/d8551c2d Quote
dynax Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Easy enough to repurpose a shoulder strap from a holdall or similar kind of bag. Personally if I know I will need to carry it for any length of time I will take my tail bag which doubles up as a rucksack for the helmet Quote
fullscreenaging Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 (edited) The last 3 lids I’ve owned have been supplied with their own branded helmet bags that have pull chords which are long enough to go over your head so you can carry them around should you wish. fastbob Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 £20 for a strap ? And why is it waxed cotton ! Surely that's just going attract dirt which will rub off on your shoulder ? At the end of the day it's just a strap . 1 Quote

It does seem to be a solution looking for a problem. 1 Quote
Pie man Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 The strap could do with a clip on accessory helmet bag to protect the lid, you know, like the MotoGP Messenger Helmet Bag sold by Sportsbike shop 1 Quote
fastbob Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Looks like it's aimed squarely at the beard oil and brown boots brigade . 1 Quote

onesea Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Not something for me, learned early on in supermarket put helmet in trolly or basket: It stops you buying to much to fit on bike, It stops people knock shit out of you helmet with there trolleys/ baskets, it’s more junk to carry on your bike, You will sell plenty at Christmas only when wife wants to buy hubby something cheaper than the Torque wrench, heated grips, new tyres or 10mm 1/4” 3/4” & 1/2” drive sockets that he really wants.. Bender Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I did think about closing it but your all having far to much fun. Quote
onesea Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Knowing nothing about kick starting seems Wentworth Goods is the founders 3rd company. Registered in London yet based in Hampshire nothing dodgy sounding.. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/ST6xP2Kr757y4nAqjcUxVPN4X9M/appointments Also looks like comments on Kickstarter page seem some what to perfect. Like the reviews you get on FB “So for the first time my other half and I thought we’d try xxxxxx. We can’t recommend them enough. Delivered bang on time pipping hot and melt in your mouth amazing. We have a new favourite cheeky take away” Not free advertising at all.. Quote
JackieOWheels Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 It's doing well from the pledgers so far so it does seem to have generated interest, I still see it as just a strap and don’t know if I can trust using it for say an expensive helmet or for walking around the shops with it behind me, like the chances of it hitting something or someone hitting is higher than if it was held in my hand as at least I can see it. Also, the video only shows full face helmets, is it not suitable for flip helmets? Quote

Whilst cheaper alternatives are available it does look to have had some thought put into it. As for making a product for a problem that dosen't exist look at the market for water in a bottle, it comes out the tap for virtually free yet houses are full of the stuff 1 Quote

husoi Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 The worst place to hold a helmet is by the chin protection. If the strap would go on the neck strap I could see the point. Another downside is how bouncy it will become and you risk to hit something with it. Still prefer to hold it with my hand and place it safely when possible. 1 Quote

Though I made a deliberate decision to fit a top box to fit two lids to reduce the need to actually carry it (them, when my good lady is with me) around. 1 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 That looks like a great way to wreck your visor. Hanging a helmet where the visor is going to be hitting things is a daft idea. 1 1 Quote

husoi Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I would consider something like that if would include a helmet cloth bag and some way to fix the strap. However you still have the bouncing effect of 1.5kg hanging of your shoulder Quote
Six30 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) how much walking do you do once you get off bike !.... bike to cafe .. cafe to bike , 15 paces at most. Edited March 30, 2021 by Six30 3 3 Quote
