bonio Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Washed mine too. Can't ride it as I'm at home self-isolating before hospital tomorrow. 3 Quote
S-Westerly Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 More what I didn't do. Due its first MOT tomorrow but as I'm still away obviously not going to happen. May try and get my son in law to do it when he's next up north. Otherwise I'll have to faff about with it when I get home. Quote

Joe85 Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Had a ceramic protective coating applied. Sounds like a complete waste of money, so I did it anyway. 1 3 Quote

Gerontious Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 I did consider that for the Africa Twin.. but the idea of buying a brand new bike and then not being able to ride it for a few weeks was just a tad off putting. Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Havig got it filthy last week riding in the rain I'd washed it but hadn't got round to polising the spokes. So this morning's job was to get it onto the lift with the wheels hanging free and ACF the spokes. It's a fiddly job and I'm glad I've got the original Bobber with a single disc at the front, but it is strangely satisfying when done. Quote

dynax Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I am hoping Xena is now fixed, the new part arrived this morning. I cut part of the housing off with a dremel to get better access to the seal, separated the bellows from the rest of the housing without any damage, cleaned everything up and applied some silicone gasket maker and put it all back together, left it to cure for about an hour while I had some dinner. Refitted the cover and filled with coolant and went for a ride, there seemed to be some fluid coming out but it was not running out like it did, I think it could be some residual coolant from before as it just seemed to bubble as if it was purging itself, will see how it is in a while and will take her out again later and see if all is well 1 Quote

A proper ceramic coating lasts for years. The one applied to my car the day after picking it up almost 5 years ago is just starting to lose it's protection. 1 Quote

Is it only applied to the paint work, I thought it was applied to the engine - exhaust and all other gubbins that would need cleaning. Is there any need for ACF50. I'm pretty clueless Quote

I'm pretty clueless Yeh he coated everything that wasn’t rubber, essentially. Apparently gives it a hydrophobic coating too. Not sure how true that is, but the dealerships flogged it to me when I was at my most vulnerable - post purchase, pre-pickup. 2 2 Quote
Pie man Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I'm going to give it a good coat of looking at, I commute all year round - if it can keep the dreaded road salt from attacking the bike it might be worth a punt. I will have to compare it to applying ACF50 each year to two bikes. 1 Quote
