This weekend I'll be finally upgrading the lighting in my garage.

Currently have 5nr 36w fluorescent tubes with a total power usage of 200W giving a scarce 32 Lx 0.70m from the floor.

New lighting will be 9nr 4w LED tubes (30cm long) a total power usage of 45W and a theoretical 130 Lx 0.70m from the floor.

This will complete the total switch to LED's around the house including external flood lights :thumb:

I'll post some pics for it when I finish the job.

Tasks will be

Make a cuppa tea

Takes bikes and trailer out

have a rest

Broom the floor

take out the stuff hanging from the roof struts

Lunch

make a cuppa tea

remove the lights and prepare the power cables

install new fittings and connect the cable

have a rest

Put the bikes and trailer back in the garage

have a pint :thumb: 🍺

That sounds more like a four cups of tea day than a two cup. 😇

True.

But did you notice the lunch break and the pint at the end? :)

It should take more than 2 hours even with some problems in the mix.

cabling is there already so is just removing the existing and place the new ones

I did, indeed, notice the lunch and pint at the end, but I think a cuppa to go with the planning and design phase, and one with the test / post implementation review phase would still be appropriate. 😁

Good point. I’ll add that in to my Product Backlog. 😁

We’re hoping the plaster doesn’t need to come off. Lime plaster costs about double that of normal plaster and, though it would be great to be sympathetic to the building, this bit of the wall isn’t so badly exposed to the weather so we’re prepared to compromise.

Don't know about where you are but down here it's like a swamp. Way too wet to do anything in the garden at all.

No @Steve_M he means because of the rain the ground is wet and super heavy.

I live on a hill, about 2/3 up. The soil hereabouts is what's called Cotswold brash and is basically clay with lots of lumps of limestone. A heavy soil which doesn't drain well and in summer sets like cement.

Sound similar to our situation, though we don’t have the limestone. We are about half way up a hill. The guy who fitted our sewage treatment plant last year also installed drainage some years ago.

If the washing machine and dishwasher are still broken I’ll mainly be swearing a lot.

The plumber is here at the moment because for reasons best known to himself he decided the tap that needed replacing (couldn’t turn the washing machine cold water feed off) would be best relocated slightly behind the machine, meaning the machine no longer pushes back against the wall and hangs out by about 20cm!! He knew this was wrong cos he did the job and scarpered. After much bullsh*t he is back 🙄

On the upside managed to unblock the sinks. The new plunger is worth a tenner of anyone’s money and the 7,645 ratings giving it 4.5 stars which I assumed were bot generated must be true! Took the drain cover off- very satisfying watching clods of gawd knows what sluicing by. Even more satisfying seeing a whirlpool round the plughole, haven’t seen one of those since we moved here 20yrs ago!
