But did you notice the lunch break and the pint at the end? Lime plaster costs about double that of normal plaster and, though it would be great to be sympathetic to the building, this bit of the wall isn’t so badly exposed to the weather so we’re prepared to compromise. The soil hereabouts is what's called Cotswold brash and is basically clay with lots of lumps of limestone. A heavy soil which doesn't drain well and in summer sets like cement. Sound similar to our situation, though we don’t have the limestone. We are about half way up a hill. The guy who fitted our sewage treatment plant last year also installed drainage some years ago. The plumber is here at the moment because for reasons best known to himself he decided the tap that needed replacing (couldn’t turn the washing machine cold water feed off) would be best relocated slightly behind the machine, meaning the machine no longer pushes back against the wall and hangs out by about 20cm!! He knew this was wrong cos he did the job and scarpered. After much bullsh*t he is back On the upside managed to unblock the sinks. The new plunger is worth a tenner of anyone’s money and the 7,645 ratings giving it 4.5 stars which I assumed were bot generated must be true! Took the drain cover off- very satisfying watching clods of gawd knows what sluicing by.
