How come it's so clean? My rear shock gets bloody filthy even with the rear hugger I fitted to help keep road muck off it

Hi @billy sugger, Had to clean it to send back to Hagon,  didn't come out this clean, but must admit Hagon do make their products to last.

If that was a Honda shock it would be rusty as hell! As you can tell by picture of bike Shock is probably the cleanest part😂😂

Dropped it. I went to the garage to get pics of the 250,and some neanderthal/throwback had parked a people carrier type vehicle, (quite tall and about 3 rows of seats),  across the hard surface in the alleyway, (probably the type to take up 2 spaces in a car park). Anyway, I had to take to the muddy strip to get past and the rear slid out from under me. Had to get a passer-by to help me right it, so bike was plastered in mud, along with my kit. Never got the pics though. Jet washed bike when I got home, and kit is in the washing machine

Bike and pics now in for sale section

Exhaust parts for these are like rocking horse poo. I believe there's a company called Zorstec in Shipley who can manufacture a suitable replacement. Otherwise it's used bits from the States which is probably more expensive.

I can't understand why it needs to have a balance pipe. Both exhausts are equal length, so unless there are forces at work that I don't know about it should be fine on independant singles either side

Arsed around at the dealers with the android setup on my phone to the bike, dealer couldn't work out why it suddenly stopped working. I ended up going home and swapping my phone for a spare bingo it worked, I had a new charging block put in my phone the other week replacement most likely was a cheap replacement. Technology is good but can be fussy

Today I tried to change the cans on my Trophy offside that came of in 10 minutes, near side well 2 hours later.

I have 2 shiny cans to fit, the old ones had a good life 23 years….

Pushed it outside, parked it. A couple of hours later I started it up, rode a U turn and returned it inside.

Hopefully the weather will improve over the next few days, I will have opportunities to take a break from my DIY work and I’ll be able to explore some new-to-me roads and locations. Thinking Dumfries and Galloway…

Dumfries and Galloway has some brilliant roads and especially once you get away from the main road to Stranraer they are surprisingly quiet.

I’ve only found my way to the west of the M74 a couple of times. So fa4 it’s been good.

I’m looking to ride around the southern coast roads, along the Solway, this time.

Some good roads there. Also the A712 between Newton Stewart and near Dumfries is a good road. Some interesting tracks as well if you are brave enough!

I have considered putting 59/50 road/off-road tyres on for that situation, but I question whether I really would be doing that much (gentle) off road to warrant them.

I've thought the same but apart from the Kielder Forest Track and a few similar forestry roads that's as far as I'd ever take my bike off road. Seriously gnarly stuff is never going to be done with my Ducati. For unsealed tracks I'll just stick with the tyres I've got and not go silly.

As @S-Westerly, say's the A712 is a cracking ride, also found myself on the B727 from Dalbeattie to Kirkcudbright last year, another spirited road.

And if you ever have time and want to get into the hills, there's a Unclassified road from near Glentrool [A714] to Straiton B741, again had the pleasure to ride this road last year looking for a photo for another competition, there's a carpark at Bell's memorial, and while we were there a few local riders stopped, so spent a pleasant hour chatting. And the views are stunning😀.

I did those on my one serious jaunt over there. There’s a small, quaint tea room in Straiton which serves proper tea. The tea is brought out in a tea pot, with an egg timer - instructions are not to serve the tea until the egg timer runs out.

I do enjoy finding small, unclassified roads through scenic areas. I’m done with riding where the only thing I see is tarmac and other vehicles, with only the occasional glimpse of scenery. This is probably why I like the roads in Asturias so much (away from the Potes triangle).

Finally changed the cans in my Trophy, the question is should a Trophy really crackle and pop on the overrun?
