S-Westerly Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 The bloody Vauxhall Avila (Cirencester ring road) that popped out of an entrance into lane 2 of a dual carriageway at about 5 mph then proceeded to brake for the roundabout from way out. Got to test my emergency braking for the second time in one day. Quote
onesea Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 (edited) I am going to nominate a Blue Ford Fiesta... Who last minute decided to overtake a pushbike into on coming traffic at a "traffic calming point" as per picture. Green line path of my bike, blue position of car (over give way line in middle of road) slowing and not stopped yet), purple pushbike. I felt it safer to get through and pass on the far side of calming measure, than to swerve to side of road and do an emergency stop in the event they kept coming. Finding themselves approaching a narrow point with a pair of motorbikes coming head on at them through traffic a calming measure, they braked. The bike behind me was already slowing knowing if they did not they would meet in the middle. In they told me the car stopped prior to narrows so they could ride through. The on coming car did not appreciate the hand coming of handle bar, that hit the wing mirror to protect the brake leaver/ end of the handlebar. Seeing the car had stopped (to pick up bits of mirror, it turned out), I stopped left pillion with other rider, rode back to check (it also meant they could not say I drove away from the seen of accident). On arrival first comments such as: There statement such as "you could of just served a bit more" "they failed to judge the speed of the on coming traffic, who was not speeding", whilst I was flexing a sore hand. When I advised them the second bike had a camera on they seemed to get more annoyed. In the end they agreed "Of course your all right and I am in the wrong" (I think it was meant to be sarcastic), my response was "Exactly". Amazing how they never asked if I my hand was ok or if my pillion was to upset for that reason I am nominating them the "Nobs". Edited April 9, 2021 by onesea Quote

Can`t help feeling with the benefit of a crash helmet on a gentle Glasgow kiss would have been appropriate ! Cheers Ian 1 Quote
SometimesSansEngine Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 The l-plater who nearly reshaped the back of my bike for me because he hadn't realised traffic was slowing because of a car waiting to turn. Luckily as I'd been looking in my mirrors at them as I slowed I was able to dink to the left..... Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Given the standard of driving at the moment I could offer several nominations. But today sees a draw between the tit in the Tesla who blasted round a blind bend and discovered Her Majesty's Constabulary dealing with an accident, and the dick in a Discovery who whilst retrieving a boat on the beach decided against using the concrete slipway and reversed onto the sand. Last seen axle deep in soft sand looking sad. I think the tit in the Tesla probably wins by a small margin for putting others at risk. 6 Quote
Pie man Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 Nob of the Day today goes to the nob who has just ridden across the local playing field on his pit bike, fallen off and broke his arm. He is very lucky that is all he has done, moments earlier I saw him riding up and down the main road, no helmet, no gloves, no motorcycle protective gear at all. I almost felt sorry for him . 2 2 Quote

Shepherd Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 The twat who rear ended me in Chelmsford today, whilst I was stationary at a roundabout. Daughter was pillion, 7st , had the full weight of my Deauville across her right leg No broken bones, but there may be if I'm ever in drivers neck of the woods. The more time that passes, the more angry I'm becoming. Gonna have to be an insurance job, as 2 panniers alone are gonna cost a fortune, without the scuffed exhaust, new helmet, crash bar plastic etc 7 Quote

Two cars behind was an undercover and on-duty police officer. There is no question of who is to blame. I'm glad it was witnessed, as I haven't a clue how it happened. I was stationary, flat footed and didn't see a thing! 1 Quote

I've never not had it before, but it looks like I'm without it on this one. I have it on my car, so may give them a call to see if they can advise. My daughter is still in pain and on crutches. Don't panic! and dont involve your car insurance! You can use ANY solicitor you wish you don't have to have legal cover I would use a bike specific solicitors though like White Dalton 2 1 Quote

Don't need legal cover, plenty of claim companies will take it on. 1 Quote
dynax Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 As previous replies it will be on the other party's insurance not yours, try White Dalton first as they are motorcycle specialists, and with the injuries your daughter has sustained and trauma screw the twat for every single penny you can. Good luck and best wishes to your daughter Quote

Mississippi Bullfrog Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Today's nomination - Halfords oil information system. I went for the usual oil I buy for the car, they've stopped doing it. So I used the interactive tablet to check the right oil as the specifications these days are bonkers. Got the oil home and fortunately checked the handbook - don't know what made me look, which said that oil was expressely prohibited from being used in the engine. Went back the Halfords, the guy checked on the till system and said it was showing a different oil. He explained that the tablet server uses a different system and often provides incorrect information. So be warned. If you're buying oil from Halford do not trust the tablet, ask the guys at the tills. Quote
husoi Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 My car doesn't use engine oil so I won't worry. The bikes I use opieoils website for purchase after consulting castrol own website to get the correct referrence. Quote
