Ever tried to ride the " Urban " section of the A6 through Greater Manchester ? It's like the old Coventry Road in Small Heath Birmingham except that it goes on and on and on seemingly without end . You've heard of miles per hour , well this is hours per mile . I won't be making the same mistake twice .

I did worse, I tried driving it. Lost the will to live.

I can vaguely remember the days my back could cope with drop handlebars. Not these days however.

To be honest i never ride on the drops. I average around 5000 miles a year, mostly 30 - 40 mile rides, half a dozen-ish 200km timed events and we do either JOGLE or LEJOG each year in 2 separate 7 day periods... and i’m still overweight !!

Next big ride is Hornsea to Sheffield on the 6-7th or 13-14th May ...weather dependant as its an overnight ride with a bivi. 103 miles.

Schlepped in to town for new shoes for the kids. It was great. :|

I got dragged in to H&M where the lift was busted and the kiddie clothes were on the 1st floor. It's astonishing the amount of people who will stop what they're doing to watch some bloke going up an escalator carrying a toddler while simultaneously precariously balancing a pushchair containing a baby with their other arm.

And the queues - I'd forgotten about them!

Installed a new wash basin in the upstairs toilet room and would have completed fitting the toilet but for a couple’s missing fittings. That’ll be finished on Monday.

These hand tight connectors are great, no fibre washers, never leak and literally hand tight if you have a strong grip.

In the beginning there was a shed:

Then there was no shed:

Tune in next time to see what happens!

Nah, they're for the footings for the new shed. That's my neighbour's garage anyway.

Oh and just for fun, now that I've finished the digging and laid the hard-core, the wife has changed her mind about how she wants it. :hammer:

Having a little jaunt over to Dumfries and Galloway on the bike tomorrow, if the weather isn’t horrendous. On Sunday I may well start putting up a fence around the area that’s to become a veggie garden. Again, if the weather’s not too bad.
