Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I ordered a booster plug to help with low speed fueling on the Bobber. Feedback from other riders with the 1200 engine says it smooths low speed handling. I don't find it a huge issue but once or twice it's caught me out so hopefully this will solve that tendency to be snatchy. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Fitted the booster plug. A little bit fiddly to get at the connectors but not difficult to do. When the roads dry out I'll give it a try. The bike is too clean to warrant taking it down our muddy lane today. Quote
fullscreenaging Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Ordered a set of braided hoses in red. Looking around the net at the usual suppliers. Hel don’t seem to do them for my bike. Goodridge do, but they were £233!!! No chance Anyway. I found a set made by Wezmoto for £125. Lifetime warranty. Very happy!! They won’t be going on until I have it serviced in May. I was going to do the lines myself but I’ll let them do it 1 Quote
husoi Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Finally my new diaphragms arrived. Ordered on 26/Jan from US, they were made to walk with shackles all the way to Chicago airport and then made to swim to the UK... A bit rough round the edges but is a perfect fit. Meaning that I can work on it the next few days and have it ready for when allowed out again 2 Quote

Ian Frog Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Parraffin ! at the very least possibly diesel and coke ! Good luck. Cheers Ian 1 Quote
linuxrob Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Always have some diesel around for that sort of cleaning, used to be parafin but diesel a lot easier to get these days. stay away from petrol for obvious reasons. Leave the clutch pushrod IN when cleaning that lot. Thought you were only taking the head off??? Quote

And in the process finding how messy this bike is, so may work out a good thing.. I think some diesel may just be a good idea.. Quote

rennie Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 I've just run mine! It started under it's own steam today! I will ride it soon! still too cold to use it for work Quote
S-Westerly Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Rode from Stroud to Banbury and back mainly on B roads for no reason other than I felt like it. Weather was good but roads were as busy as normal depending on the actual road I was on. Lots of potholes, gravel and mud but generally good stuff. 1 Quote
bonio Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) First trip out on the MV!! Today I had another hospital appointment. This time Colchester so 100 miles round trip mainly B roads. Glorious roads. Awesome bike. Was a happy lad Edited March 15, 2021 by bonio 5 Quote

husoi Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Not directly related to bikes... 1st wash on waterproofs I promise you, the water is a lot darker than it looks 2nd wash, and yes, I turn on the jacuzzi 2nd wash this morning, again photo looks better than really is. 2 Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 I had some banking to do so had a play with tyre pressures. I've always run the Honda at the recommended 36/42, though the Haynes manual says 29/33 - which seems totally wrong. The front end has always seems a bit uncertain in the wet at the recommended pressures. I thought I'd start low and work upwards so dropped them to 32/36. In the wet the front end does feel better but the back end was too low. Totally planted in the bends but it just felt a bit soggy. Next run will be 32/38. The Bobber uses 32/42 which seems fine but I only ride it in the dry. Quote

husoi Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 During 3rd wash (current) both are still black and red. What is coming out is the reflective layer on the stripes. I'm not sure the guy wasn't swiping chimneys with them 1 Quote

I’m definitely too lazy for three hand washes in a bath! Quote
