Fitted a Denali Soundbomb horn to replace the wimpy BMW OEM thing that sounds like it should grace a moped.  If I can rouse myself to push the button the noise should at least be noticeable!
Apparently German rules say that M/C horns must be of a higher pitch than cars? Bewildering…

I see people doing this to the RT all the time! yet mine is pretty decent which makes me wonder if mine has already being changed

Front wheel bearing change on the little GS125.

Measured the bearing depths for both sides (5.1mm)

wheel supported on blocks of wood to prevent damage. heat was need to get he bearing out. First one to remove is the RH or speedo drive side. then the space and the disc side bearing, both are 6301 bearings

Holes were than cleaned and inspected before the disc side new bearing was fitted. A 27mm socket was used to drive the bearing the final 5.1mm down the holes as i do not have a small enough drift

After having a "bit of bother" getting the wheel bearing out the spacer got a bit burred up so was dressed with a round file

the LH (speedo) side bearing was then refitted the same way as the other side one

Currently in for service and proving eye-wateringly expensive. Reckon this might be the last dealer service it gets. Local guy is half the price.

This is why I've just invested in the kit to access the ECU so I can do pretty much everything myself.

TuneECU cost me 10 Euros. The OBDlink MX+ cost me £97. It pays for itself first service. I could have opted for a cheapo dongle but the guys who have them run into so many issues it's not worth the hassle.

£516 which is not cheap given the service wasn't the "biggie" which is due at 18000 miles so next service. That maybe difficult to avoid dealer as its the desmodromic thing and we'll beyond my spannering ability. I idly asked about changing the chain and sprockets which I can do myself and the quote was £470!!! I can get a DID chain and sprocket set from Wemoto for less than £150. So I won't be using the dealer for this.

Today I had the tank off, filled the rad with coolant, put the new rad cap I bought on. Replaced one of the fuel lines and took for a test spin.
plan is to take it for longer tomorrow.
issue is a litre of coolant vanishes and then my bike over heats. Session with the bike with Fastbob and we thought maybe the knackeredy rad cap meant not pressurising so the coolant boiled and expanded and escaped.

Fingers crossed you have solved it 🤞

Did you let it idle up to temperature? If the rad cap is knackered you can usually spot coolant boiling out of the system at idle. On a run you can't spot it the same.

Hopefully a new cap will sort it out if the original was knackered.

I see you have fitted ZZ bearings which are metal shield type, are they correct for a wheel bearing?

They are not so good at stopping water contamination compared to a rubber seal type

I would have preferred the 2RS type but they were out of stock at the local bearing places. The OEM ones are metal shielded ones (the back ones were ZZ as well) and yes they are not as good at keeping water out. The ones i took out were a bit rough but no rust. The bike is 23 years old and nr 30000 miles so they have not done bad.

Just dropped the bike off at the dealership for the long overdue recall work. Replacing the fuel pump and filter out of the tank after giving it a thorough clean. Hopefully collecting it this afternoon or tomorrow if I can’t get motivated. Bit knackered after last nights goings on. Fun and games at the moribund house of the bewildered. We’ve got a mini covid outbreak underway. It’s just one thing after another. The excitement is just too much. And I’m all out of cake.

Went to my local bike maintenance place and to supply and fit new rear tyre, new sprockets and chain (DID ZX) cost less than dealer would have charged for just supplying the chain and sprocket set. Of course dealer has to pay for shiny glitzy showroom but.....

When I went to the dealer for a new rear disc, they quoted me £270 for an 'original Honda' - I thought this was laughable and asked for alternatives.. In the end I had them get me a Galfer for £110 a little over 40% the cost of OEM. so add to that £35 labour, I saved £160 - I could have bought two discs and had cash left over for a nice meal and drinks.

Stripped the front wheel off and the front mudguard to fix the fender extender on properly

Whoever fitted it made a right hash of it and the centre fixing was doing nothing

20220111_122615.jpg

All stripped and while in there I gave the lower fork legs a good clean and also the underside of the mudguard was full of crap so I had to clean that up

 20220111_122620.jpg

20220111_122627.jpg

20220111_122634.jpg

Whoever fitted the fender extender decided to drill holes all over!

Also there was a huge gap too and the fixing just never even went through the fender extender

20220111_134328.jpg

So I found some material that seemed to be the same and decided to fill the holes and start again

20220111_135519.jpg

20220111_135525.jpg

Looks a bit of a mess! but thats the idea! get enough in there to fill the holes and bond to the rest of the plastic then grind it flat

20220111_141158.jpg

Re fitted the fender extender with some really strong double sided tape this time in the correct position then re drilled all the holes and fitted the fixings

Looks and fits miles better than it did

That looks like Public Transport , something that the stupid , the unwell and the lazy apparently have to endure on a regular basis .  Horrible isn't it ?  When I bought my bike I had to get a bus to Coventry Station , a train to Euston Station , a Tube to Victoria Station and another train to Portsmouth . I only bought the bike because I couldn't face that nightmare all over again . 😆
