Did the head stock bearings on the project scooter. Always takes longer than you think.

Today I rode my bike in a summer monsoon and bought some Rukka Virium Gore-Tex gloves, for riding in summer monsoons.

COVID Cleaned it, Some idiot left me alone at work for an hour with a large pack of clinical wipes…

It started with the bugs on my visor, then the screen ended with the oil on the swing arm and back wheel and everything in the middle.

Surprisingly efficient, infact so efficient I gave it a bit of a jet wash after to wash it off in case the chemical started on the paint.

At least I know my bike won’t kill me with covid!

why do you have oil on your swing arm and back wheel?

Because I have not cleaned them for some time and oil my chain regularly.

don’t get me wrong the bike gets a jet wash from time to time to keep salt and road grime down.  It’s just the finer parts of cleaning.

So do I as per the owners manual, but I have never found oil on either part. just general road grime that washes off with little or no effort. I would be quite peeved by the extra work involved to remove oil. Ive found the switch from shaft to chain relatively painless so far though even 3 years on its still a novelty.

Off up there myself next week . New tyres , new clutch, bike running really well . Just need the weather to cooperate . Covid has given me a taste for free camping so I'm just setting off and playing it by ear . Have a great trip .

I'm not long back, had a great trip.  As usual I encountered rain, fog, flies and sunshine, mostly all in the same day, but had a cracking time.  I found that it isn't true what they say about the Scot's, 😆I met a very helpful farmer at a place called Connel, not far from Oban.  he let me pitch up in a field close to his farm, and use the facilities, toilet and running water in his farm yard, really nice bloke.  Hope you had a great trip 👍

Go on....why?

This is like being on facebook and tagging yourself at A+E and everyone asking if you're ok hun

Basically the mirrors are enclosed on my bike and when you wash it or it rains they get full of water with nowhere to drain!

So I removed all the covers and mirrors and drilled a small drain hole for it to drain away :D

You can see where the water collects!

I also washed the bike afterwards

I did something similar to an old Ford Escort which leaked through the windscreen. Having tried multiple times to cure the leak I eventually gave up and just drilled some holes in the floor. It did the trick.

Just booked 3 nights in Wales for week after next

Then remembered my MOT tester telling me my bike passed MOT and the rear tyre had twice the legal limit on the back tyre!

So 2mm then! 1mm usable! f**k

New tyres ordered!

And while I was at it I ordered 2 tyres for the wifes car

that was an expensive 30 mins

Old land rovers don't have floors that can hold water, only the carpet you put in the foot well to save your hearing holds water 😁

Rear light clusters on Cars from the 1960’s / 70’s often filled with water. Namely my Vauxhall Victor FB and both Hillman Hunters and a MK2 Cavalier. All were treated with a 3mm (1/8”) drill bit.

Cleaned & lined the chain on the Speedtriple in preparation for tomorrows ride down south. ( I did put a tarpaulin down on the drive to protect it but it soaked through & left a big black stain on the block paving, luckily Mrs Mickly won’t realise until I’ve gone )

Checked tyre pressures, oil & coolant levels, all good 👍

Here is my planned route:

What I did with my bike ......

Last week my friend Chris and I decided to cycle from Southport to Wath -Upon -Derne, along the Trans Pennine Trail. Wath is not far from where we both live, and it’s the first half of the TPT (112 miles).

We did 77 miles the first day and the balance the following morning.

Along the way we passed the Woodhead Tunnels, western entrance. Although i have driven on the road above them i had never visited the tunnels until our cycle took us past the entrance.

So .... Today i jumped on the Himma and rode back to the entrance, technically it’s on the TPT so no motor vehicles but there is a Northern Power gate next to the TPT gate ... so i opened that one and drove the 20 meters down to the tunnel entrance from the carpark ....

And here’s the pics ......

They have just spent millions and millions on repairing and upgrading the tunnel too ..... put a power cable along it !

The gates you can see below are copied 12 ft back ... and a further 12 feet back ... there is CCTV everywhere ....

One does wonder what else is in the tunnel ...

These old tunnels are the original rail tunnels .... what a shame these are tunnels are not carrying trains directly between Sheffield and Manchester as they used to.

Thought I'd give the Dyna a little bit of a polish following yesterday's mot.

Also we used her for a little shopping trip!

Took mine to the garage to collect the stripped 500 engine, and discovered I have a bloody fork seal gone on the right fork. I've only done 1700 miles since last August, and I'd just fitted new seals that July, ready for its MOT😡
